HOW DO YOU FEEL YOUR JOB CONNECTS TO ALBEMARLE'S STRATEGY?

To be honest, before taking part in this year's S2E (Strategy to Engagement) project I didn't feel my job connected closely with Albemarle's purpose. Because we didn't typically talk about Purpose or Strategy very often during daily work, it felt a little far away from me - more like a high-level leadership topic. After S2E, because of the opportunities to discuss the topic with our leadership and participate as a member of the Engagement team, I now know more about purpose and strategy.

WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON NOW THAT CONTRIBUTES TO OUR ABILITY TO EXECUTE OUR STRATEGY?

My work involves a lot of interaction with internal functional departments and external communication with the local government and community. So I think my work does contribute to the execution of our strategy. For example, integrating local plant procedures and policies into Albemarle's procedures and policies contributes to our goal of “One Albemarle". Maintaining coordination between different departments during daily work requires a lot of collaboration and courage which are both key elements of our Core Values. And finally, when communicating with government and community representatives, I need to uphold Albemarle's safety and compliance focus.

HOW DOES YOUR ROLE POWER THE POTENTIAL OF A SAFE AND SUSTAINABLE WORLD?

As a site leader, I'm trying my best to transfer safety culture to my team, and to create a safe working environment. As for “Powering the potential", I'm trying my best to give my team more opportunities to express themselves and raise their ideas. If we are talking about the "World", right now, I think it feels a little far away and like a big topic. But, I believe I can make an impact within Albemarle and that will contribute to the larger world.

HOW WOULD YOU EXPLAIN OUR STRATEGY TO A NEW TEAM MEMBER?

I think I would start with Albemarle's Core Values - specifically Care. For me, this includes caring for our employees and caring for the environment and our society. Then I would introduce our strategy related to customer experience and operational excellence.
