Employee Spotlight: Njamkou Noucti

Meet Njamkou Noucti, Global Product Manager for our Bromine Specialties business. Njamkou is located at our corporate headquarter office in Charlotte, NC. In this Q&A spotlight, we learn more about her current role, her connection to the Bromine Vision and Mission, and an achievement she is proud of.

How long have you been in your current role as Global Product Manager?
I've been a global product manager for brominated polystyrenes and Altexia since September 2019. Next month will mark my 1 year anniversary!

How has the Bromine Vision & Mission inspired you in your work?
The Bromine Vision & Mission has inspired me by challenging me to “continually grow and get better" not just personally, but professionally along with my colleagues. It motivates me to be bold and courageous in my role as a product manager and reminds me that true leadership is service to others (humility).

Which value resonates with you the most and why?
Curiosity and collaboration resonate the most with me. I have a passion for learning and improvement, and cherish the opportunity to interact with people who think differently than I. It allows me to see the world from their perspective and identify problems and solutions that I would not see otherwise.

How has the Bromine Vision & Mission helped you achieve success?
The Bromine Vision & Mission reminds me every day that it is not just what you do that matters, but also how you do it. It consistently inspires me to seek improvement in my work and with myself and to do the right thing the right way.

What project or achievement are you most proud of while at ALB?
The first half of the year presented many challenges. We transitioned to new software for SAP and logistics. Through collaborations with colleagues in business, logistics, sales, and customer service, among others, we were able to navigate our way through with minimal impact to the brominated polystyrene business. I was able to quickly learn the new software and share my knowledge with my coworkers, and together we made it through. As the great Michael Jordan said “..teamwork and intelligence wins championships". Making it through that transition period felt like a championship moment.

What is the best part about working in the Bromine GBU?
The people I work with! The bromine GBU is collaborative and we care about the success and well-being of our fellow coworkers. This environment makes it a joy to come to work every day.

What advice would you give others in your profession or people seeking to be in your profession?
Your coworkers are a huge asset - make use of them! Ask many questions and do not be afraid to say, “I don't know". Have patience with yourself and be coachable.
