Lithium Aluminum Deuteride
LiAlD4
Lithium Aluminum Deuteride (CAS 14128-54-2) is a complex metal deuteride supplied as a fine crystalline powder with molecular formula LiAlD4. It typically has a white to light grey appearance.
Lithium Aluminum Deuteride is a strong versatile reducing agent applied in the synthesis of deuterated active pharmaceutical ingredients and other deuterated compounds. It enables selective high-degree deuterium incorporation for deuterated drug synthesis.
Lithium Aluminum Deuteride reacts readily with moisture and air and should be handled under dry, inert conditions. Consult the SDS and site-specific procedures for compatible materials, fire response, and storage.
Applications
Versatile deuterated reducing agent for organic chemical and phamaceutical industry.
Specifications
- Lithium Aluminum Deuteride: min. 97 %
Method of Analysis
Volumetric determination after hydrolysis by aqueous dioxane. Detailed description available on request.Handling Instructions
Pay also attention to the official safety regulations. The safety data sheet is available on request. Please see also our brochure "Lithium Aluminum Hydride". In use may form flammable/explosive dust-air mixtures. Harmful in contact with skin and if swallowed. Keep container in a well-ventilated place. Keep under argon or nitrogen. Never add water to this product. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. In case of fire use powder based on sodium chloride or limestone powder. Never use water, halons or carbon dioxide.
Storage Instructions
When stored according to SDS, the material has fair stability, however within a certain period of time a slight grey discolouration (aluminum precipitation) with generation of deuterium will be observed at ambient temperature. We recommend to use lithium aluminum deuteride within a period of six months after receipt. Higher temperatures can be temporarily accepted, for example, during transport, but should not exceed 35°C.
