A spodumen a lítium kiváló olvasztó tulajdonságai miatt üveget, üveg-kerámiát, porcelán zománcot, fehérárut és mázakat előállító iparágakban használatos. Nagyon alacsony hőtágulással rendelkezik, és csökkenti az üvegtömeg viszkozitását. Hozzájárul az üveg fényességéhez és szilárdságához. A spodument metallurgiai alkalmazásokban is használják, pl. folyamatos öntési porokban, repedésgátló adalékanyagként, valamint öntőforma-töltőanyag gyártásában.
