The Antofalla salt flat, which stretches over 140 km in length and has an average width of 10 km, is located in the southernmost part of the Argentine Puna. This high-altitude plateau extends across the western regions of the provinces of Jujuy, Salta, and northern Catamarca. The Argentine Puna is an elevated plain with an average altitude of 3,500 meters above sea level, surrounded by mountains exceeding 6,000 meters.
