"Mi Antofagasta Querida" will be exhibited at the La Negra Plant in Albemarle from Monday, October 16 to Friday, October 20, and can be visited by workers of the lithium producer.
Tuesday, October 17, 2023.- With the aim of highlighting the cultural heritage of the Norte Grande, Telethon of Antofagasta and Albemarle Chile inaugurated the artistic exhibition "My Beloved Antofagasta", which will be exhibited this week at the La Negra Plant in Albemarle, being the first time that it reaches an industrial lithium plant. It is an exhibition of oil painting made by the children of the Telethon that includes 30 works that portray the identity of the Antofagasta Region from its local customs and tourist attractions.
The activity was attended by Gabriel Goicoechea, Operations Manager of Albemarle Chile; Manuel Zamora, Deputy Manager of Community Relations and Corporate Responsibility of Albemarle Chile; Sebastián Azares, director of the Antofagasta Telethon; and Alejandra Petrowitsch, teacher of the art workshop of the Antofagasta Telethon.
This creative project is part of the programs taught by the Telethon Institute in the Artistic and Creative Therapies Unit (UTAC) that helps children and young people to enhance their comprehensive rehabilitation through the arts. In addition, it seeks to facilitate the development of social skills, allowing the inclusion of users in society, as well as the sense of belonging in the community.
Sebastián Azares, director of Telethon of Antofagasta, said that "My Beloved Antofagasta is a project that began two years ago and seeks to make local cultural heritage visible. The 30 works have a high sense of how children and young people see, from their disability, our region, demonstrating all their capabilities through this wonder that we have built, we are very happy."
Gabriel Goicoechea, Albemarle Operations Manager, said "for us it is a tremendous pride to be part of this initiative that will be in our plant throughout this week. It is really exciting to see the quality of the cadres, which makes us reflect and connect to a large extent with what we want as an organization, to continue working on issues of inclusion and diversity."
"This exhibition reinforces the link we have with the Antofagasta Telethon since 2017 with our permanent contribution to the institution and the voluntary initiative of a group of company workers, who every year together with Albemarle, sponsor the children and young people of the Telethon art workshop, organizing a Christmas party at our Las Vertientes sports complex," said Manuel Zamora, Deputy Manager of Community Relations and Corporate Responsibility.
"Mi Antofagasta Querida" presents an innovative staging that invites the citizens of Antofagasta to look at their city, from the noblest art, made by this group of 21 Telethon artists.
Some of the landscapes portrayed are the Croatia Park, the sea lions peeking out of the waterfront, mining trucks, the Huanchaca Ruins, Trocadero Beach, the system of pools of the Albemarle Salt Flat, among others.
The artistic exhibition "Mi Antofagasta Querida" is part of the launch milestone of Albemarle's Telethon 2023 campaign, a historic solidarity crusade that will take place on November 10 and 11 under the slogan "Telethon does us good, every day".
