B-PAC™ High Performance Mercury Sorbent
B-PAC is a high efficiency brominated powdered activated carbon.
Applications
B-PAC is specifically manufactured for the removal of both elemental and oxidized mercury from the flue gases of: - coal fired utility boilers - coal fired industrial boilers - electric arc furnaces - cement kilns - taconite plants - waste incinerators - other industrial plants
Features
AND BENEFITS B-PAC has proven to be highly effective in removing elemental and oxidized mercury from boiler flue gas and industrial process gas streams when injected into cold-side electrostatic precipitators, fabric filters, or ahead of wet scrubbers. Mercury removal rates greater than 90% are achieved in a variety of plant configurations and with bituminous, sub-bituminous, and lignite fuels. Very fast reactions between the gas borne mercury and the brominated substrate allow for high levels of mercury removal in applications with short residence times. Because of the patented way that Albemarle’s sorbents are manufactured, their electrostatic properties are such that at some plants they have demonstrated improved electrostatic precipitator collection efficiency.
Handling Instructions
Wet activated carbon removes oxygen from air. In a partially closed, closed or confined space, oxygen levels may become depleted. If workers are to enter a vessel containing activated carbon, all applicable low-oxygen work rules and procedures should be followed, including all applicable Federal and State requirements.
