Workshop on Direct Lithium Extraction brings together more than 50 students and experts in Antofagasta
With the participation of students, academics, and representatives from the public and private sectors, the workshop “Direct Lithium Extraction: Innovation and Sustainability for the Future” was held at the Universidad Católica del Norte. The event was organized by the HEUMA Consortium and Albemarle. The day included technical presentations, discussions with specialists, and an exhibit on the TED Project, giving attendees a closer look at the technological development the company is driving in the Atacama Salt Flat.
Academic authorities, experts, and Albemarle representatives praised this collaborative space. Carolina Rojas, Dean of Engineering and Geological Sciences, highlighted the importance of strengthening ties between universities, industry, and the public sector, while the Albemarle team presented progress in direct extraction technologies. The day concluded with a discussion session reinforcing the connection between regional talent and innovation for the future of lithium in Chile.
Albemarle celebrated Christmas by strengthening ties with the community
Albemarle kicked off the festive season by sharing special gatherings with its teams and their families in Santiago and San Pedro de Atacama. Pozo 3 served as the meeting point for the celebration, which brought together employees and children from communities near the Salar Plant operations. Open Houses for the TED Project in San Pedro de Atacama
With more than 300 attendees, Albemarle launched the Early Citizen Participation (PCT) sessions for the Transition to Direct Lithium Extraction (TED) Project in San Pedro de Atacama. This voluntary initiative made it possible to talk directly with residents and local communities, answering questions and sharing information about the project’s outlook.
The activity was attended by Sebastián Carmona, VP Regional Leader LATAM, who emphasized the importance of opening company operations to the community. “We were in San Pedro de Atacama opening our operation and our future projects to the entire community, inviting them to talk with our professionals about what we do today and what we want to continue building together for sustainable and transparent mining,” he said.
Impulsa Program strengthens skills in Socaire and Toconao
In the towns of Socaire and Toconao, the practical stages of the course “Gastronomic Techniques with a Focus on Traditional Flavors”, part of the Impulsa Program, came to an end. Participants held a culinary showcase that reflected what they learned and highlighted the traditional recipes and dishes of the region.
This initiative is part of Albemarle+Local, the platform that promotes opportunities for economic and social development in communities near operations, providing tools that help strengthen local enterprises and trades.
Students from Liceo Likan Antai visit the Salar Plant
A group of Electrical students from Liceo Likan Antai took an educational visit to the Salar Plant, where they learned firsthand about the lithium extraction process and the electrical systems that make the facility operate. The experience allowed them to see in the field what they study in class and clarify their questions with Albemarle professionals.
These visits are part of the company’s commitment to technical education in the region, creating real learning opportunities that inspire young people and bring them closer to new pathways for training and development.
