Workshop on Direct Lithium Extraction brings together more than 50 students and experts in Antofagasta

With the participation of students, academics, and representatives from the public and private sectors, the workshop “Direct Lithium Extraction: Innovation and Sustainability for the Future” was held at the Universidad Católica del Norte. The event was organized by the HEUMA Consortium and Albemarle. The day included technical presentations, discussions with specialists, and an exhibit on the TED Project, giving attendees a closer look at the technological development the company is driving in the Atacama Salt Flat.

Academic authorities, experts, and Albemarle representatives praised this collaborative space. Carolina Rojas, Dean of Engineering and Geological Sciences, highlighted the importance of strengthening ties between universities, industry, and the public sector, while the Albemarle team presented progress in direct extraction technologies. The day concluded with a discussion session reinforcing the connection between regional talent and innovation for the future of lithium in Chile.

Albemarle celebrated Christmas by strengthening ties with the community

Open Houses for the TED Project in San Pedro de Atacama

With more than 300 attendees, Albemarle launched the Early Citizen Participation (PCT) sessions for the Transition to Direct Lithium Extraction (TED) Project in San Pedro de Atacama. This voluntary initiative made it possible to talk directly with residents and local communities, answering questions and sharing information about the project’s outlook.

The activity was attended by Sebastián Carmona, VP Regional Leader LATAM, who emphasized the importance of opening company operations to the community. “We were in San Pedro de Atacama opening our operation and our future projects to the entire community, inviting them to talk with our professionals about what we do today and what we want to continue building together for sustainable and transparent mining,” he said.
