Monday, January 16, 2023.- The Sustainable Initiatives awards held by the LT-PULSO Sustainability HUB have become a milestone in sustainability in Chile. A few days ago, the 2022 awards were presented, an opportunity in which the Salar Nursery initiative of the lithium producer Albemarle was distinguished, which was recognized in the category "Climate action and affordable, safe, sustainable and modern energy".
The award ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Economy, Nicolás Grau, and the director of the newspaper La Tercera, José Luis Santa María.
Ignacio Mehech, country manager and VP of External Affairs at Albemarle, was in charge of receiving the recognition given to the project that, according to the evaluators, surpassed other equally significant initiatives that are carried out by important companies. "We are very humbled by this recognition, which is not only a sustainability project, but also represents the collaboration that guides all our actions. The new era of lithium that we are developing is based on this type of action in which, as in the nursery of Planta Salar de Atacama, a valuable dialogue is generated between ancestral and scientific knowledge, working to preserve zonal and zonal plant species of the area, which has a great heritage value for indigenous communities. especially for the community of Peine, with whom we have worked for this project. The recognitions of the Pulse Sustainability HUB have earned a very relevant place due to the quality of its selection and participants, therefore this distinction also implies a great boost to continue producing sustainable lithium for the world," said Mehech.
In this version, 150 companies participated with various actions grouped into seven categories: Climate Action Award and affordable, safe and modern energy; Quality Education Award; Gender Equality and Inequality Reduction Award; Innovation and Infrastructure Award; Responsible Production and Consumption Award; Shared Value Award; and Health and Wellness Award.
