B-PAC Plus™ High Performance Mercury Sorbent
B-PAC Plus is a high efficiency brominated powdered activated carbon.
Applications
B-PAC Plus is specifically manufactured for the removal of both elemental and oxidized mercury from the flue gases of: - coal fired utility boilers - coal fired industrial boilers - electric arc furnaces - cement kilns - waste incinerators - other industrial plants
Features
B-PAC Plus is optimized for immediate mercury gas access to the adsorption sites on the sorbent, which is one of the most crucial mechanisms of entrained flow adsorption of mercury. B-PAC Plus significantly increases the utilization of the sorbent’s high surface area particles and in doing so decreases the cost in use of the product. One property of B-PAC Plus is increased flowability, which can improve the operation of ACI systems. B-PAC Plus is manufactured with Albemarle’s patented gas phase bromination technique, which provides a high level of chemical reactivity with mercury. B-PAC Plus is highly effective in removing elemental and oxidized mercury from boiler flue gas and industrial process gas streams when injected into cold-side electrostatic precipitators and fabric filters. Mercury removal rates as high as 90%-95% are possible even in many cold-side electrostatic precipitators.
Handling Instructions
Wet activated carbon removes oxygen from air. In a partially closed, closed or confined space, oxygen levels may become depleted. If workers are to enter a vessel containing activated carbon, all applicable low-oxygen work rules and procedures should be followed, including all applicable Federal and State requirements.
