Nobel Prize Awarded for Development of Lithium-Ion Batteries

Wednesday, October 9th was an exciting day in the world of lithium as John Goodenough, Akira Yoshino and Stanley Whittingham accepted the 2019 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their contributions in the development of lithium-ion batteries.

The invention of these lightweight, rechargeable batteries – commonly found in everyday tools like mobile phones, laptops and electric vehicles – has revolutionized the way we use technology and helped create the wireless, connected, battery-powered society that many of us appreciate today.
