Albemarle Highlights Commercial Fuel and Advanced Materials Collaboration at AFPM 2021 Annual Meeting

April 12, 2021

Showcases solutions to support global demand for refining and petrochemical industries

CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 12, 2021 -- Albemarle Corporation (NYSE: ALB), a leader in the global specialty chemicals industry, today announced its presence at the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) 2021 Annual Meeting. Albemarle’s Catalysts Business will be a lead sponsor at the virtual event, which includes two days of live, pre-recorded, and on-demand sessions.

Albemarle’s Catalysts business helps to meet the growing global demand for fuel and advanced materials by developing flexible, performance-based catalysts, technologies and services to the refining and petrochemical industries. The company recently launched a catalyst line dedicated to co-processing of renewables: ReNewFine™. Each ReNewFine™ grade tackles the specific challenges for the operating zone in a hydrotreater and is applied following the ReNewSTAX™ loading concept which provides optimized stacking of catalysts for maximum activity, selectivity and stability.

In addition to its virtual booth participation, Albemarle executives will be presenting two topics at the event:

Enabling Sustainability: Co-Processing Biofuels in Existing Hydrotreaters, hosted by Aline Bueno Cury, Hydroprocessing Technical Specialist. This session will highlight Albemarle’s experience in the last decade providing commercial solutions optimizing the balance between guard and active catalyst beds to provide improved cycle lengths and product yields.

Bio-feedstocks FCC Co-Processing: Albemarle’s Experience, presented by Jon Strohm, FluidCatalytic Cracking (FCC) R&T Exploratory Group Head.  This session will focus on learnings from laboratory investigations and commercial trials on the impact on FCC products of co-processing bio-feedstocks, and how these learnings can be applied in the development of catalyst solutions for FCC co-processing.

“We are excited to share our insights and perspectives with our industry colleagues as well as showcase some of our leading Catalysts solutions at this important time for the industry,” said Raphael Crawford, president of Albemarle’s Catalysts business and a member of the board of directors of AFPM. “Our people, our technology and our science put Albemarle in a position to continue to collaborate with our customers and partners to develop innovative solutions where fuel demand continues to grow.”

As part of its sponsorship, Albemarle is hosting the Women in Industry Reception on April 12, and the Happy Hour event on April 13.
