Throughout the U.S., Albemarle operates world-class hard-rock and brine lithium resources, a state-of-the-art lithium conversion facility, advanced lithium material and process development, bromine production facilities and the only lithium-producing mine in the U.S., located in Silver Peak, NV.
Kings Mountain, NC
Our 1,200-acre site in Kings Mountain, NC sits on one of the richest spodumene ore deposits in the world and is one of the most sophisticated sites for advanced lithium material development. The site’s Lithium Conversion Facility produces battery-grade lithium hydroxide, lithium bromide, lithium chloride, USP-grade lithium carbonate, high purity lithium carbonate, battery grade lithium metal products and lithium alloy powders.
With the growing demand for lithium, Albemarle is pursuing a potential restart of production from the Kings Mountain mine to strengthen the U.S. supply of critical minerals.
Magnolia, AR
Albemarle's Magnolia manufacturing plants are two of the world's largest suppliers of bromine and bromine chemicals. Our two plants in Columbia County produce different chemical ingredients used in the manufacturing of a wide range of products, including flame retardants, inorganic bromides, agricultural intermediates and tertiary amines.
Silver Peak, NV
Albemarle’s Silver Peak location is the only active lithium resource in the United States and part of our portfolio of world-class resources. It is where we first began the producing lithium from brine using solar evaporation ponds more than 50 years ago. Today the site employs over 60 people and produces technical-grade lithium carbonate and special grades of lithium hydroxide.
