Albemarle holds strategic investments in lithium mining in Western Australia focused on securing high quality lithium for the global market.
These include the Wodgina Lithium Mine joint venture and shareholding in the Greenbushes Lithium Mine.
Albemarle also holds various exploration tenements in the Pilbara, Goldfields and South West region, including near the Greenbushes mine.
It also established the Kemerton Lithium Plant, in Australia’s South West. The plant is currently in a transition phase to Care & Maintenance.
Albemarle holds a 49% interest in Talison Lithium which owns and operates the Greenbushes Lithium Mine in the South West region of Western Australia. A Tianqi Lithium Corporation/IGO Limited JV holds the remaining 51% of Talison.
Greenbushes is a large-scale, long life, hard rock lithium mine with one of the highest ore reserve grades of any hard rock mine in the world.
Greenbushes has four spodumene concentrate plants operating with a production capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per annum. Spodumene concentrate from the mine is supplied to conversion sites in Albemarle’s global network.

The Kemerton Lithium Plant, located within the Kemerton Strategic Industrial Area, has established a new advanced manufacturing industry in Western Australia’s South West. Kemerton is designed to produce chemical-grade Lithium Hydroxide for use in energy storage and other industrial applications. Additionally, Kemerton produces Sodium Sulphate Anhydrous (SSA) and Delithiated Beta Spodumene (DBS).

Albemarle holds a 50% interest in the Wodgina Lithium Mine in the Pilbara region of Western Australia through its joint venture with Mineral Resources. Wodgina is one of the largest known hard rock lithium deposits in the world.
Wodgina has three processing trains with a nameplate capacity of 750,000 dry tonnes of spodumene concentrate per year.
