Albemarle Asano Corporation was first established in Japan in 1994 as a result of Albemarle Corporation's acquisition of Asano Chemicals Co., Ltd, which had been Ethyl/Albemarle's sales representative for Japan over 25 years.The company was renamed Albemarle Japan Corporation in 2003.Upon acquisition of Rockwood Holdings, Inc by Albemarle. In 2015, Albemarle Japan moved its location to Akasaka to consolidate offices with Rockwood Lithium Japan Corporation. The company offers speciality chemicals such as Refining Catalysts, Organometallics, Bromine and Fine Chemicals in many of the industries, from energy and communications to transportation, house hold appliances and electronics. Rockwood Lithium Japan K.K.
The company set up its first Asian subsidiary in Japan, Chemetall Japan K.K. in 1994. In June 2012 the company was renamed to Rockwood Lithium Japan K.K. In November 2012 the office moved to the Akasaka district. The company is operating with local inventory to service its customers and supplies its full product range directly to the Japanese high end specialty chemical market with the technical support of the Taiwan product unit of the Rockwood Lithium group. With the potential for growth in lithium batteries for electric vehicles, Rockwood Lithium will be a reliable partner for Japan’s battery industries.
