Job Description

The Position

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for enabling the safe and reliable operation of all mechanical and electrical equipment, through the application of world-class maintenance principles and practices, directing the maintenance and reliability teams to deliver world class asset care outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the maintenance and reliability teams to zero injuries and zero major incidents.

  • Observe employee work practices and equipment, ensuring that safety is the highest priority

  • Remedy unsafe conditions and conduct safety meetings each month with department personnel.

  • Responsible for the maintenance and reliability of plant equipment and facilities.

  • Develop and implement the plant mechanical integrity program.

  • Work closely with production personnel so that proper scheduling of maintenance work meets the demands of maintaining an efficient operation.

  • Train and develop maintenance personnel in the safest and most economical methods of doing their work and to continuously improve their skills.

  • Define maintenance objectives and develop departmental budget to attain objectives.

  • Measure, monitor, track and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure attainment of maintenance objectives.  Use KPI’s to set and achieve Improvement objectives.

  • Implement preventative / predictive maintenance through maintenance software for the issuance and carrying out of work orders.

Work Experience / Technical Skill Requirements

  • Self-motivated, organised, trustworthy, empathetic and optimistic leader who has the ability to inspire and empower the maintenance and reliability teams.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a positive attitude. 

  • Strong technical and problem solving skills in mechanical design, root cause failure analysist and maintenance

  • The ability to share information, ideas and experiences to build a strong knowledge base within the team

  • Motivational skills;  the ability to influence and manage change and work collaboratively within the Operations team

  • The ability to drive positive change, whilst be open to new ideas and technologies and implement innovative solutions.

Education / Qualification Requirements

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, but other engineering degree with appropriate experience will be considered.

  • Ten or more years of experience in maintenance management or maintenance engineering.

  • Experience across both Greenfields and Operations highly advantageous.

  • Previous experience in the processing industry preferred but not required
