Albemarle has developed and maintains a number of policies that underpin our sustainability framework.

In August 2019, we launched our new Code of Conduct, which provides an overview of our expectations and standards for ethical behavior and compliance, as applied in day-to-day employee activities. The Code represents our Core Values in Action. For more information, and access to our Code, please click here.

In December 2019, Albemarle launched a new Business Partner Code of Conduct that applies to all vendors, contractors, sales representatives and any other partner doing business with Albemarle. For more information, and access to our Business Partner Code, please click here.

In 2018, Albemarle adopted a revised Health, Safety, Security & Environmental Policy that covers governance and safety stewardship; social responsibility, green chemistry principles, product safety, and environmental obligations; people and development; and financial performance.

Corruption and bribery, in any form, are prohibited under Albemarle’s Code of Conduct and our Anti-Corruption Policy.

The purpose of the policy is to provide guidance on the types of activity that might constitute bribery, the scenarios in which bribery might arise and our requirements in those scenarios.

Albemarle is committed to participating constructively in the political process with the ultimate goal of advancing and protecting the best interests of the company and our stockholders and employees.

The political process significantly impacts Albemarle through government policies, legislation and regulatory decisions. Through our participation, we promote legislative and regulatory actions that further Albemarle’s business objectives and work to protect the company from unreasonable, unnecessary or burdensome legislative or regulatory actions at all levels of government. We are fully committed to conducting our political activities in compliance with all applicable campaign finance laws and reporting requirements and in accordance with our Political Contribution Policy. Albemarle believe in the principle of free trade. We are committed to vigorous but fair competition and act independently of our competitors. We compete on price, quality, volume, service, talent, research and innovation. We expect our customers and other business partners to also compete fairly and will take action against those who do not.

Our Antitrust Policy provide guidance on the types of activity that may violate competition laws, the scenarios in which that activity might arise and our requirements in those scenarios.

Respecting the human rights of our employees, workers in our supply chain, members of our communities and other stakeholders (collectively, our “stakeholders”) represents all of our Core Values in Action. We believe that business can only flourish in societies where human rights are protected and respected. We recognize the human rights of our stakeholders as expressed in the International Bill of Human Rights and the International Labour Organization's Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.  We equally acknowledge our responsibility to consider and address the impact of our own operations on the human rights of our stakeholders. This is not only the right thing to do, it is critical to maintaining trust and our legal and social license to operate.

Our Human Rights Policy provides direction and guidance to ensure that our engagement and activities support the fundamental principles of basic human rights.

We engage with our host communities with care, respect, transparency, honesty and humility, and seek to make positive contributions to these communities. We embrace the opportunity to build mutually beneficial relationships with the communities where we live and work.

Our Global Community Relations and Indigenous Peoples Policy governs how we engage with the communities in which we operate.

We respect the labor rights of our employees and contractors as they are expressed in the International Labour Organziation’s Declaration of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.

Our Global Labor Policy builds on that declaration and provides direction and guidance for how we approach workplace conditions, fair employment, diversity and inclusion, and how we respect the rights of children and young workers.
