Albemarle offers a wide range of lithium, magnesium, sodium and zinc based organometallic specialties.
This innovative toolbox comprises organometallics, amides, alkoxides, hydrides and Grignard reagents. The commercially available products excel other substances with their high reactivity and chemoselectivity while meeting today’s demands of production departments in any pharmaceutical or chemical company such as safety and environmental regulations as well as operating in a profitable manner.
Albemarle uses its extensive know-how in organometallic chemistry for the development and production of tailor-made lithium, sodium, magnesium, or zinc organometallics, alkoxides, and amides upon customer request and specification.
We grow with our Customers
From the first lab trials and safety investigations to pilot-plant and large-scale production - Albemarle is able to serve and grow with its customers.
Safe production, transportation and storage is very important for us. As all these reagents are highly reactive, Albemarle meticulously inspects all products prior to launch regarding their thermal stability and safety, degradation and side reactions. This comprises the knowledge about potential intermolecular- and intramolecular reactions or reactions with the solvent.
Albemarle started producing alkali alkoxides in the early 1970s and has been continuously expanding the product line ever since.
They are broadly employed as bases in organic synthesis of pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals. Typical reactions are alkylation, arylations, solvolysis of esters and transesterifications.
Albemarle offers lithium methoxide (powder and solution in methanol).
Albemarle offers magnesium bis(2-ethylhexoxide), showing a high solubility in hydrocarbon solvents.
Reactivity and selectivity can be varied by the organic group of the anion as well as by the metal cation. Our products are available either as solids or in solution, depending on the customer requirements. Tailored reactivity and selectivity can be achieved by varying either the “organic” group of the alkoxide anion or the metal cation.
