Langelsheim - Supporting Local Youth

Employees at the Langelsheim site recently collaborated to raise money to benefit local youth. They donated the remuneration for the hours worked on September 22, 2018, the Day of Chemistry in Germany, a day when chemical companies like Albemarle hold open houses for the community. The total employee donation that day was 7,500 Euros worth of ours worked. This amount was doubled by the company, for a total of 15,000 Euros. In addition, the Works Council raised money from a bake sale and employees from other local companies donated as well. The final donation totaled 27,700 Euros and was divided among associations and institutions from Langelsheim that work with children and young people. The Langelsheim site chooses to direct their donation to benefit young people, because it helps Albemarle to be recognized in the region as an employer and vocational training company, as well as a good neighbor who promotes the local community.

Recently, representatives of all 18 associations and organizations visited the Langelsheim plant to receive their donations. Plant Manager Jörg Kielhorn welcomed the guests and presented them with their donations. He was joined by other plant management, pictured together in the photo above. Donations went to the following organizations:

- DLRG Langelsheim
- DRK Local branch Langelsheim
- MTV Langelsheim
- MSC Langelsheim
- Youth fire brigade Astfeld
- Youth Fire Brigade Langelsheim
- Children's Fire Brigade Langelsheim
