Pilot plant

Albemarle’s pilot plants fill the gap between kilo lab and commercial production for those whose needs don’t quite fit either cGMP or non-GMP requirements. They’re also heavily involved in proving manufacturing processes for products destined for commercial-scale production.

We feature cGMP pilot plant production in Dayton, Ohio and Orangeburg, South Carolina, as well as non-GMP pilot plants in Tyrone, Pennsylvania and an additional pilot plant at Orangeburg.

At our Process Development Center (PDC) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, process economics are proved in one or more of six pilot plants that are configurable for batch or continuous processing. There, experienced operators fine-tune processes developed in the lab until they meet your standards as efficiently as possible.

We operate our pilot plants around the clock to move your projects ahead quickly, and to provide you with approval quantities concurrently while we generate design data for full-scale plant construction.

We can work with your technology, or we can use our own extensive resources to develop, test and prove efficient new processes.

And our sense of urgency isn’t limited to implementation of a synthesis or scale up. You’ll see this same drive in our parallel work on improved procedures in logistics, costs, regulatory affairs and chemical process improvement.

Contact us today to learn more about our pilot plants or to arrange to see them in person. Find out how we can speed your next commercial product along its way.
