Albemarle’s Orangeburg, South Carolina, facility offers commercial-scale reactors in a variety of materials of construction with capacities to 16,000 gallons, as well as a wide range of solids-handling equipment. Orangeburg is an ISO 9002-certified, FDA-regulated facility with eight active drug master files. The US Food & Drug Administration has issued only one minor 483 citation at Orangeburg in more than 20 years, yet it produces more than 5,000 metric tons of pharmaceutical actives annually.

Like most Albemarle production facilities, Orangeburg is more than just a chemical plant. There you’ll also find advanced analytical laboratories, as well as impressive design, engineering and construction capabilities.

Flexibility is also a hallmark at our custom chemical facility in Tyrone, Pennsylvania, which is especially well equipped for complex, multi-step synthesis. The Tyrone location features glass-lined, stainless steel, and Hastelloy® reactors and autoclaves. Reactor capacities range from 500 to 4,000 gallons, and total capacity exceeds 60M gallons.

Tyrone’s ISO-9002 and ISO 14001-certified facility offers a full range of solids-handling equipment and a variety of distillation systems, as well as a pilot plant.

Albemarle’s Process Development Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is a fully functioning plant environment with reactors ranging from 500 to 4,000 gallons and a full complement of market development unit operations. The advanced complex also features 32 bench-scale process laboratories and multiple pilot plants configured for computer-controlled batch and continuous processing.
