With our expertise in process development, Albemarle’s Fine Chemistry Services group can help you turn your chemical concepts into commercial-scale products. We’ve done it before for ourselves and for customers like you in a wide range of industries from agriculture to pharmaceuticals, polymers and water treatment.

It often starts at our Process Development Center (PDC), a chemical plant designed like a laboratory - that is, an extremely flexible facility staffed by hundreds of innovative chemists, chemical engineers and technicians, all of whom are experts at solving difficult process development problems.

Process economics are proved in one or more of six, self-contained pilot plants that are configurable for batch or continuous processing. There, experienced operators fine-tune processes developed in the lab until they meet your standards as efficiently as possible.

Systems include vacuum and high-pressure capable reactors from 10 to 100 gallons (40 to 400 liters), refrigeration and hot oil systems that can support cryogenic or very high temperature reactions, and flare and acid-gas scrubbers.

With our superbly equipped bench-scale laboratories, and our proven commercial-scale production capabilities, you can count on Albemarle for pilot phase production or at any stage, sometimes all on the same site. We can increase production volume to keep pace as your needs grow.
