Post-treatment of FCC naphtha to remove sulfur while retaining olefins and octane cannot be accomplished using conventional hydrotreating catalysts and processes. Selective hydrotreating processes to reduce sulfur to ultra low levels while minimizing octane loss are available from process licensors. Albemarle produces the proprietary catalysts used in the ExxonMobil SCANfining™ process. Combined with the special design and operation of the SCANfining™ process these catalysts deliver very high desulfurization while minimizing the loss of octane.
