Reformer pretreatment
line

Reforming catalyst have tight restrictions on sulfur and nitrogen content in order to operate at maximum efficiency. Hydrotreating catalysts are used to pretreat reformer feedstocks to remove sulfur and nitrogen to very low levels. Depending on the source of the reformer feedstock and the operating parameters for the naphtha pretreat unit, desulfurization or denitrogenation may control cycle length. Both CoMo catalysts and NiMo catalysts are used pretreat naphtha for reformers.

Higher activity catalysts may allow the processing of more difficult feedstocks while still maintaining the desired unit cycle length.
