Kerosene

Kerosene and jet hydrotreating operations can have many different requirements but most often it is sulfur removal and color improvement. Sulfur removal is relatively easy on most feedstock but hydrotreating to ultra low levels may require a very high desulfurization activity catalyst. This is especially true if color is an important product property. Lower activity catalysts must be operated at higher temperatures to produce ultra low sulfur – generating conditions which may lead to the formation of color bodies.

CoMo catalysts are most often used to hydrotreat kerosene. Albemarle’s STARS™ and Nebula™ technology have both been successfully applied to produce ultra low sulfur kerosene.
