In this era of omnipresent environmental regulations, octane, LPG olefins for alkylation, and highly isomerized gasoline are becoming increasingly more valuable. Albemarle has developed a new catalyst family, ACTION, which will not only help the refiner meet these regulations, but simultaneously increase their profitability.

ACTION catalysts employ Albemarle's latest zeolite technology, ADZT-100. The application of this zeolite technology in ACTION catalysts results in many benefits. First, ACTION with ADZT-100 delivers a large octane improvement normalized for LPG. This is especially important for those refiners who are at or near a wet gas limit. Also, ACTION catalysts preferentially make C4s instead of C3s. The corresponding increased C4/C3 ratio incrementally helps refiners alleviate a wet gas limit. ACTION also delivers improved C4 olefinicity for increased Alkylate production. Finally, ACTION catalysts generate a gasoline higher in isoparaffins. As a result, FCCU gasoline made with ACTION catalysts will have a smaller octane debit across a gasoline post-treater.

ACTION catalysts are designed for two services. ACTION LV is our maximum liquid volume catalyst. This higher zeolite to matrix ACTION catalyst is ideal for refiners who want to maximize total liquid product while improving octane and C4 olefins. ACTION BC is our maximum bottoms cracking catalyst designed for refiners who need a workhorse catalyst to crack bottoms and increase octane and C4 olefins.
