The 20 acre Albemarle Teesport site is situated at one of the major centers of the UK chemical industry in the North East of England and adjacent to one of the busiest ports in the country with excellent links to Continental Europe. With approximately 40 employees, the site produces Fine Performance and Specialty chemicals, including emulsifiers, corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors and esters; primarily for the Oilfield industry.

Albemarle acquired the custom manufacturing and Oilfield chemicals plant in 1998, to complement Albemarle's clear completion fluids, amines and quats product lines, and to provide logistical support to Oilfield customers by serving as a staging site for European sales. Stainless steel reactor systems range from 3000 to 25000 liter capacity, with a wide range of versatile ancillaries, including distillation columns, vacuum systems, substantial blending capacity and solids handling equipment. Thermal fluid heating up to 280 degrees Centigrade is available and 3 bulk storage tank farms provide holding capacity for raw materials, finished products, intermediates and effluent.
